Ramekin, Los Feliz

1726 N Vermont Ave · Los Angeles, CA 90027 · Neighborhood: Griffith Park/Los Feliz

I recently attended an ice cream social with a few of my blogger pals at Ramekin in Los Feliz. Chef Jason Park (Ramekin, Maru) came out to talk to us and introduce a few new ice cream flavors and classic desserts.

I was especially thrilled because I had been wanting to try Ramekin’s bread pudding and famous strawberry brick toast for quite some time now. I sampled those along with their blueberry soup, a taste of each and every ice cream flavor (favorites to include: earl grey, pistachio, honey yogurt and banana chocolate chip!) and I even their scrumptious chocolate chip cookies which the LAWeekly recently included in their top 5 best cookies in LA list.

The thing that makes Ramekin so special is that along with taking immense pride in what he does, chef Park sources as much as he can from the local farms at the Santa Monica and Hollywood Farmer’s Markets. He changes his ice cream flavors often to reflect the changing seasons and comes up with some unique flavors like grapefruit, melon, plum and jasmine just to name a few.

Most items are baked to order so don’t expect any cookie cutter desserts here. This is the kind of place you want to grab a cup of Handsome coffee or Rishi Tea and linger for a while with a book or a pal.

Strawberry Brick Toast – House baked Japanese white bread, sweet milk crisp, chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream, strawberries.

Lemon Meringue Tart – Organic lemons, Tahitian vanilla, torched meringue.

Chef Jason Park takes an order.

Which to choose??

Pistachio, Jasmine, Chocolate. Yes, please.

Oatmeal and Chocolate Chip Cookies. Bravo!

Just outside this sinful shop.

The menu, Jason and me – happy as a clam cookie.
